This book will be published by Bloomsbury Children's Books on June 21st. I won a copy of the ARC from the author (thank you), and it was such a good book I wanted to give you a head's up about it.
The only human who survived the bunker breakdown was Fisher. There is a robot there in the dark, but Fisher doesn't know if he's a friend or foe. He doesn't even know why his name is Fisher.
This book is an excellent read. Fisher and the robot begin a search for other humans and have a lot of dangerous encounters on the way. He adopts a baby mammoth as a friend and guide (that makes the story worth reading right there), artificial intelligence has evolved into monsters, there are giant fighting parrots, and even smart prairie dogs. What more could you want?
No child will be bored by this story. This adult wasn't bored either. I'm keeping my copy for my library, Mr. van Eekhout even drew me a picture of mammoth poop and told me not to step in it. So you'll need to buy your own copy.
This is a tale of survival, but it's also humorous. I highly recommend this book. Pick up a copy at your local bookstore at the end of the month and have a good read.
