Love, Honour, and O'Brien by Jennifer Rowe

Holly Love was being impetuous for the first time in her life.  She left her hometown, ended her long time engagement and moved into a new job.  Now she's said yes to marriage with a hot new lover and is going to get married today.  Unfortunately, when she gets to the house, her man has disappeared.  And he's taken her money...

Poisoned Pen Press and Net Galley allowed me to download an ebook for review (thank you).  This book has been published and you can get a copy in hardback, paperback, paperback with large print, or an ebook.  Check with your local bookstore for a copy.

Holly's troubles don't get better.  She hires a private eye to locate the nasty bugger that dumped her in an attempt to get her money back.  After all, he took not only her current earnings but her savings, too.  When she doesn't hear from O'Brien, the private eye, she goes looking for him.  She finds him, but he's dead.  What more could go wrong?  It's good you ask.

She finds a photo with her lover's picture shown against a fence and a large house.  Then she gets a phone call on O'Brien's cell phone and gets hired, as a P.I.  Just coincidentally, the new "job" she's getting wants her to find the lover she was already looking for.  Can it get worse?  Yes...

This story is filled with odd characters, strange happenings, a parrot and a bit of insanity.  It also made me laugh.  I really enjoyed watching Holly trying to sort out the mess.  It looks like she might even have a new career.  After all, she still hasn't located her con man...

Happy reading.
