This is a young woman's story about puberty, love, school, friendship and more. I wasn't sure if I should review it because I know nothing about this country or its culture. I did learn a bit about that as I read along. The overall concept I found in this book is that women are the same world-wide. Our concerns and the silliness of youth are present in this school in Bahrain, too. I felt at home even if it the story was set across the pond.
The author sent me a copy of this ebook for review (thank you). You can buy a copy at Amazon now.
Veena is an innocent girl from India who finds herself in a school filled with various nationalities. There are various religions, lots of odd characteristics, and most of them are not as naive as she. Her journey through this year of school will have you laughing.
She's sorely disappointed by the fact that she's flat chested; she wants boobs! When a friend tells her about stuffing a bra with toilet paper, it sounds like a great idea. How it turns out is not so great.
She also has a crush on the most handsome boy in class. She has a few problems with that relationship, too, and ends up going in another direction she couldn't even have imagined.
All in all, it's a tale of puberty filled with juvenile jokes, embarrassments we've forgotten about at this age, and the proof that friendships are really all that matters in life when you're young. If you have good friends, you can live through the indignities of life.
Happy reading.
