Conjured by Sarah Beth Durst

This is a strange tale; you can't see the end of the story at the beginning.  All the characters lie.  She has amnesia and cannot remember before or even much of after.  Her memory is illusive and weak, but she must remember...

Bloomsbury USA Children's Books and Net Galley allowed me to download an ebook of this story for review (thank you). It will be published September 3rd, so check with your local bookstore then for a copy.

Eve has no memories of the past and is told she's in a Witness Protection Program with the warning that someone from her past is trying to kill her.  Ms. Durst clearly expresses the confusion you would feel if nothing is familiar and you don't know anyone around you now.  She also tantalizes the reader with pieces of memory, but Eve can't tell what is true and what is not.

She meets more young adults that have a magical power, but she doesn't trust them either.  That's good because no one is telling her the whole truth.

The ending is very surprising and also very unusual.  This twisted tale amazingly ends well.  I know it will keep any young adult reader stuck their chair finishing it.  After all, it did that to me.

Happy reading.
