Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell

Nothing is right and nothing is wrong in Kit's world.  It's what her mother taught her.  She's trained her to be the perfect assassin.  Death means nothing to them.

Katherine Tegen Book and Net Galley allowed me to download an ebook of this story for review (thank you).  It will be published April 1st, so check with your local bookstore for a copy.

The most chilling thing about this book is that it was written by a seventeen year old.  How someone so young could put together this horrifying story with honest emotion all the way through it is beyond me.  Ms. Ewell did an excellent job.  This story is real thriller that kept me on the edge of my chair while reading it.

Kit has a hidden mailbox in a public bathroom, hid behind a stone in the wall.  She gets requests for murder there.  People write her letters, leave her money, and hope she will take care of their problem.  She doesn't know them, doesn't care about them, she just picks a random person and makes it happen.

While this sounds horrific to you and I, Kit and mother consider it their job.  They are ridding the world of unwanted people.  They see no wrong in it; they think it's a calling.  When it starts to go wrong for Kit is when she finally gets a letter that asks her to kill someone she goes to school with.  She should have ignored it, but she didn't want to.  It's different when you know them.

The ending is amazing.  I was very impressed by this book.  It made me look at the world in general and think about what would happen if we didn't have boundaries.  This is not a story I will forget.
