Magic Delivery by Clete Smith

Here's a Halloween night no one is going to forget for a long, long time...

Disney Book Group and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published August 5th, so watch for it then.

I haven't read anything by Mr. Smith before but I sure will be looking for more now.  This is a fast paced silly and scary story that I really enjoyed.  It's written for middle grades, but adults can have fun with it too.

Imagine putting on a Halloween costume and having it take over...  Sounds like something from the Twilight Zone, doesn't it?

Nick and Burger are traveling down the highway on an errand when a van appears out of nowhere and goes straight across the highway down over the cliff.  If that's not inexplicable enough, there's a bear driving it!  When the boys go down to see if anyone got hurt, they find the van.  They take a couple of costumes with them, just for fun.  What they find out is that it isn't fun.

The costumes are from another world, and they give the person wearing them the powers their characters represent.  The problem is that most of them are animals and rational thought disappears.  What begins as a gag, suddenly turns deadly.

There's a lot of action, some really scary parts, and a very interesting ending.  I enjoyed this one.  I'll be reading more by this author.  Why don't you give it a try?
