The Tea Party in the Woods by Akiko Miyakoshi

She's walking in the woods following her father to Grandma's with the pie he forgot to take.  When she trips and falls, she ruins the pie but she still runs after her father.  Only when he goes in the house, it's not Grandma's and she wasn't following her father...

Kids Can Press and Net Galley allowed me to read this picture book for review (thank you). It will be published August 1st.

She's been following a big bear and there are all kinds of animals in the house.  When a kind animal invites her in to the tea party, she goes.  All the animals welcome her, chat with her and enjoy being with her.  After time for a cup of tea and a bite to eat, she tells them she needs to go to her Grandma's but her pie has been ruined.  They fill up her box with pieces of pie from the ones they brought.  They also walk her to Grandma's.  But she gets to the door, they're no longer around.  I wonder if her box is still mixed with types of pie?

A very simple story with soft spoken illustrations that could work as a bedtime story.  If your child likes pie too much, it might not.
