Wonder Woman: The True Amazon by Jill Thompson

I've never followed Wonder Woman comics but when I saw Jill Thompson had illustrated this one, I had to read it.  I love Jill's artwork and comics so it was the right mix for me.  How about you?

DC Comics and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published October 4th.  

This story starts with war.  The Amazon women finally retreat to a hidden world where they can live in peace.  Life is good, everyone is happy but the queen's heartbroken because she has no child.  She goes down to the beach each day and makes a sand baby and wishes it was alive.  One day the gods hear her and she suddenly has a new child.  The queen's happiness overflows.  However, not all is well.  This lone child, a girl, gets her way all time and is spoiled by everyone in the kingdom...

When her actions cause misery and her best friend dies trying to save her from monsters she let loose, she feels great sorrow.  Her mother does, too, but she has to pay the consequences.

This is the beginning of Wonder Woman and gives you the background on how she became what she is and what her quest is.  It was an interesting read and the artwork is gorgeous.  Give it a look; I bet you'll take it home!
