Nickerbacher, the Funniest Dragon by Terry John Barto

This fairy tale is different from most you read.  No one is playing traditional roles and it's full of impossible ideas.  I like it.

The author graciously shared a copy of this book with me for review (thank you).  You can buy a copy now on Amazon.

Nickerbacher, the dragon, wants to be a comedian.  Really.  Badly.  But it just isn't done.  He has a princess friend who reads books in her pajamas under the tree he sits in.  He sends away any prince that tries to save her.  But his life feels unfulfilled.

When another prince shows up, the princess cons him into escorting her and her dragon to the city where the TV show the dragon wants to audition is.  His father tries to forbid Nickerbacher from going, but he won't back down from his dream.  The first audition doesn't go well, so he has to go for lessons in how to be funny.  Some of the jokes are awful punny.

This was a fun read.  Nickerbacher doesn't look dangerous.  He's sweet and kind and the princess loves him.  He even learns to make the audience laugh but not about jokes.  It's about life and following your dreams.

I followed mine and now I read books every day and do book reviews.  I'm in my personal idea of heaven here on earth.  What dreams do you have?
