A Deadly Engagement (Margot Durand #9) by Danielle Collins

Margot is back at work and hates not being able to tell people she's engaged.  Adam doesn't want to take away from his cousin's upcoming wedding celebration so he asks her not to tell.  She doesn't have time to worry about that, though.  Her older friend who is like a father to her calls and says he needs her.  She leaves the bakery to her staff and goes to help him...

Fairfield Publishing and the author let me read this book for review.  It has been published and you can grab a copy now.

It seems her old friend had another wife she didn't know about.  She has sent him a letter telling him she has a secret she needs to tell him.  Unfortunately, she has died before he can see her.  Margot thinks maybe she had a child.  He's not sure.  Then she finds out the young man she ran into on the way out of his apartment doesn't work for the maintenance crew.  They've never had anybody by that name or by his description.  Even more concerning, he's following her. It turns out there was crime associated with the man.  He's not guilty of all of it, but he's been set up.

Margot might be home in her small town but she's about to meet up with a group of con men that have been pulling jobs for years.  Her old friend even gets kidnapped.

This is another good cozy mystery that I enjoyed reading.
